Abstract:
Two broadband structures of sum-difference components have been proposed. One type is the structure of a strip line hybrid ring coupled with a slot line and a shielding cavity, which replaces the microstrip transmission lines in hybrid ring circuits with striplines. At the same time, a metal cavity is introduced at the slot line to improve the shielding of electromagnetic wave transmission in microwave circuits and avoid the disadvantages of surface wave loss and interference of microstrip transmission lines. The design results indicate that the working bandwidth of the sum-difference component device is 12 GHz to 18 GHz, the amplitude non-uniformity is less than 0.2 dB, the phase imbalance is less than 1°, VSWR is less than 1.5, and the sum-difference component isolation is greater than 43 dB. Another type is the broadband waveguide sum-difference structure. The traditional waveguide sum-difference component structure have a narrow bandwidth and the profile is high. The structure of inserting adjustment column and membrane inside the waveguide sum-difference can increase the bandwidth to over 30%. At the same time, the overall structure is flattened by using slot coupling and compressing the narrow edge of the waveguide. The design results show that the working bandwidth of the device is 29 GHz to 40 GHz, the amplitude non-uniformity is less than 0.1 dB, the phase imbalance is less than 0.5°, VSWR is less than 1.8, the sum-difference component isolation is greater than 46dB, and the thickness is only 4.3 mm.
