Abstract:
The temperature distribution produced by an intracavitary microwave applicator for heat treatment of cancer can be described by the "bio-heat equation". The equation is solvednumerically in a way that combines the finite element method (FEM) with finite different method (FDM).This paper provides calculated curves about the temperature distribution produced by cylindrical apolicator and compares them with the wxperimental results under no blood f lowingcondi t ion. The curves are consistent well with each other. This results will play an important role in vivo experiments as well as in clinical use in the future.
