Abstract: The basic principle of three dimensional parabolic equation (3DPE) and the way of numerical implementation are expatiated. The interference loss of radar wave propagation on the flat earth and the diffraction loss through the knife-edge are evaluated by the 3DPE method. Comparing with the results available by the classical method, they show excellent agreement.
