Abstract: An improved genetic algorithm is presented in this paper. This algorithm adopts simple and flexible decimal coding and amends genetic parameters so as to enhance searching efficiency greatly and to avoid effectively premature convergence. Pattern synthesis of antenna array is actualized successfully using this approach. Good results show that the genetic algorithm is an effective method in solving such problems.
