Abstract: Antenna performance assessment and design of UWB radio systems have much difference from traditional antenna due to the ultra wide band of transmitted signal.This paper describes the performance parameters in both time domain and frequency domain and the methods of the design of UWB antenna.Two type antennas in the typical applications are presented;the technical challenges and developing prospect to further research are discussed finally.
