Abstract: A printed folded dipole which based on thin-membrane structure is studied in this paper. This thin membrane printedfolded dipole is fed by coplanar stripline, which is transited from coplanar waveguide through a vertical transition wideband balun.From the simulation result, we know that this printed folded dipole has wide bandwidth, good radiation characteristic and theperformance is less influenced by the change of membrane spacing. The use of coplanar waveguide in the feed network solves theproblem of connection between printed folded dipole and T/R module. The study of thin membrane printed folded dipole issignificant to reduce the mass, stowage and the cost of larger-aperture lightweight deployable antenna system for future.
