Abstract:
In order to realize a real dynamic and multi-channel transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), in this study, we proposed a new design of helmet-shaped mesh TMS coils for the first time. This proposed new TMS coils can achieve multi-channel stimulation on whole brain surface with greatly improved spatial resolution and precise positioning. Moreover, the proposed coils can realize the real-time dynamic variability on position, size, type and magnitude of TMS stimulation. We built an electro-magnetic model of the human head to simulate the distribution of electric field induced by TMS coils. Furthermore, the distribution of magnetic field induced by TMS coils was measured. Both the simulation and measurement results are consistent with the theoretical value, which suggest that the proposed coils are effective and can be wildly used in future TMS studies.
