Abstract:
This paper reports the experimental investigation of a relativistic Magnetron with Diffraction Output (MDO) under repetitive short voltage pulses condition. When applied voltage is ~180kV and axial magnetic field strength is ~0.12T, the MDO radiates 120MW of microwave power, 22% of power conversion efficiency, 2.3GHz of central frequency. When voltage pulse width is 7ns and plateau is 2.5ns, output microwave duration is 3ns with pulse width of 1.5ns. At repetitive rates of 50Hz and 100Hz, stability of radiated microwaves is related to ripples and jitters of applied voltage and solenoid current. Output microwave powers range from 90MW to 120MW. After 2×104 shots with high repetitive pulse string, there are no obvious damage and burns in the MDO.
