Abstract:
Based on lumped resistance FSS absorber, an ultra-wideband tightly coupled antenna array is designed. By loading multi-layered lumped resistance FSS absorbers between antenna array and ground plane, transmission property is improved, antenna short circuit zero point is restrained, and the bandwidth is broadened. Meanwhile, physical sizes of antenna units can be effectively decreased by reasonably making use of the strong coupling effect between antennas. In this paper, conventional impedance FSS is replaced by lumped resistance FSS absorber, which makes the design and fabrication of antenna array much easier, and improves the antenna impedance matching effectively, thus making it widely used in phase array applications. The simulation results show that, by tuning parameters such as the sizes of FSS absorbers, resistance values and coupling capacitance between antenna units, the bandwidth range of the antenna reaches 12.6:1(1.5 ~ 19GHz) when the standing wave ratio is lower than 3, and it reaches 8.3:1 (2.2 ~18.3GHz) when the standing wave ratio is lower than 2.
