Abstract:
Millimeter wave/ submillimeter wave systems for detection, communication, imaging, et al. developing raprapidly, brings high requirements on the bandwidth, loss and integration fields of W-band waveguide filters. In response to the applications of the new generation of W-band solid-state broadband high-integration receivers, this paper proposes a W-band waveguide bandpass filter based on a single-sided E-plane capacitive coupling to achieve the wide frequency response of 85.5-97.5 GHz (3 dB FBW ≈ 13.1%). This waveguide filter also has a symmetrical E-plane split structure that can be easily processed by the modern high-precision milling technology (CNC), and then can obtain the low-loss characteristic and high robustness. In addition, a resonant cavity is introduced to realize the transmission zero based on the pole extraction method, which further improves the upper sideband suppression of such filter. After the processing and actual measurement, the tested results of the above-mentioned filters in the full W-band are highly consistent with the simulation results, which indicate that they have structural repeatability and frequency expansion.
