Abstract:
A multiband omnidirectional antenna for vehicular communication is designed in this paper. The antenna is composed of metal patches printed on both sides of FR4 dielectric substrate. The multiband characteristics of the antenna can be obtained by loading a meandering strip on top of the main radiation patch, loading two edge resonant cells on the side, and loading two electric field coupled inductor-capacitor (ELC) resonant cells on back of the main radiation patch, respectively; a C-shaped slot is etched on the main radiation patch to broaden the middle-frequency bandwidth of the antenna. The proposed antenna size is 58 mm×42 mm×1. 6 mm, and the measured results show that the S11≤-10 dB impedance bandwidth is 0. 82-0. 96 GHz, 1. 7-2. 69 GHz ,3. 34-3. 66 GHz and 4. 81-4. 97 GHz, respectively, covering the frequeny bands of 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and et al. The antenna has the advantages of small size, wide band and good omnidirectional radiation. It can be applied to vehicular communication or other mobile communication scenarios.
