Abstract: The perfectly matched layer absorption boundary condition is discussed, especially for the method to get difference equation from differential equation. The correctness of the common used procedure is proved by a typical example. It is then applied in the calculation of a microstrip antenna. The PML makes convenient in the application of FDTD to the complex electromagnetic structures. So it extends the application area of FDTD.
