Abstract:
Yagi antenna is one kind of traditional antenna. This paper presents the application of Minkowski fractal loop in the design of Yagi antenna arrays. The miniaturization of loop Yagi antenna is realized by utilizing the space filling ability of the fractal. A six-element Minkowski fractal loop Yagi antenna is designed which works at 880 - 960MHz band. Its characteristics are analyzed by using the MoM. The wire antenna is modeled as a thin strip. Planar triangular patches are chosen to discretizated the strip. RWG basis functions are used to model the surface current. The designed fractal Yagi antenna is compared with the square loop Yagi antenna. These two antennas have the similar characteristics in VSWR and radiation, but the size of the fractal Yagi antenna is reduced 29.8%.
