Abstract:
The narrow bandwidth property of the microstrip antenna is one of the important reason to restrict its wide application. In order to enlarge bandwidth, Elliptic parasitic element and the air gap between the patches are used, which not only reduces the value of Q to increase the bandwidth, but also can improve the gain due to the introduction of elliptic parasitic element. A prototype has been designed and tested. The measured results show that the antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 23. 7%(S11 <-10)and the gain is about greater than 8dB. Good agreement between simulation and experimental result shows the design is proper and useful.
