A Miniaturized CPW-Fed Dual Band Broad Band Monopole Antenna for WLAN Application

    • In this paper, a miniaturized CPW-fed dual band and broadband printed monopole antenna for WLAN appli- cation is presented. The miniaturized dual band and broadband performance of the proposed monopole is achieved by adding a half helix on a tab-like monopole. Fed by CPW, the monopole obtained some favorable characteristics, such as broadband matched, simple structure, easy to manufacture and integrate with other communication equipment. Simulation and experi- mental results show that the 10rib return loss impedance bandwidths for the higher and lower band are 2100MHz ( about 37.7% ) which covers from 4.52GHz to 6.62GHz and 220MHz ( about 9.2% ) which covers from 2.27GHz to 2.49GHz respectively, and gain of the antenna are all between 2 to 3 dBi. Radiation patterns of the proposed antenna are also suitable for WLAN ap- plications.
