    A New Method for Vital Signal Extraction in ImpulseBased UWB Radar

    • In this paper, a new method for vital signal extraction in impulsebased UWB radar system is proposed. Firstly, wideband cross correlation methods are used to estimate the echo delay. Then, select mean and variance of the delay sequence as features and use CMeans clustering algorithm to achieve echo classification, so direct wave is removed effectively. Lastly, delay sequence of the target echo is decomposed into several intrinsic mode functions(IMFs) by Empirical Mode Decomposition, respiration and heartbeat signals are reconstructed in time domain by IMF’s components. The results indicate that the proposed method is more effective than meansubtraction method to suppress the direct wave. It also weaken the interference from respiration harmonics.
