A New Patch Yagi Antenna Based on Right-Left Handed Transmission Line

A new miniaturization Yagi antenna based on right-left handed transmission line which has the backward waves is researched. The active dipole of this antenna is based on right-left handed transmission line; meanwhile, in order to reduce the size, reflector and director are respectively used with folded line and capacitive microstrip line. Experimental results demonstrate that the performance of this antenna is superior to traditional Yagi antenna, and the size of this new antenna is only one third of traditional Yagi antenna. The performance tests indicate that this new antenna is better than traditional Yagi antenna.
