Abstract
The disadvantage of the Bagley polygon power divider(BPD)is its large size at low frequencies. To overcome it,this paper presents a new design to reduce the size of Bagley polygon power divider using defected ground structure(DGS). The design is based on using one or two DGS structures in each arm of the BPD instead of the conventional one. In order to show that this idea is val? id,two 1.62GHz dividers based on FR4 substrate,one of which is designed using conventional microstrip line and the other is size-re? duced by using DGS,are simulated,fabricated,measured and compared. The performance of the BPD using DGS is almost the same with the conventional one;meanwhile,a size reduction of about 50% is achieved.
