Abstract
Corrugated horn is a kind of horn with merits of excellent radiation performance and compact structure. In particular, the horn with axial slots could be realized to have low cross-polarization and wide-band performance. It has practical value in extending frequency range and multiplexing polarization. This paper presents a design of a low cross polarized wide-band corrugated horn with axial slots in Ka-band, which is analyzed based on mode-matching method and full-wave algorithm. According to the measured results, the horn covering the whole Ka-band (26.5~40 GHz )has the characteristics that the return loss is less than -20 dB, cross-polarization at 0° is less than -45 dB. Besides, a good beam performance in both E-plane and H-plane and stable phase center are achieved. The corrugated horn with axial slots has broad applications in the field of satellite communication.
