    MPIE-MoM Analysis of the Sloping Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna over Lossy Half-Space

    • Using planar layered media as physical model, the sloping log-periodic dipole antenna (LPDA) is analyzed strictly on theory by mixed-potential integral equation (MPIE) conjugated with method of moment (MoM). The calculation formula of impedance matrix element is deduced. In view of the continuity of scalar potential Green爷s functions with respect to the coordinates of field point at the interface in layered media, the differential operator is transferred to act on the current from scalar potential Green爷s functions. The singularity is reduced and the calculation speed is fastened. The microwave net- work theory is applied to deal with the excitation, and a quick way is used to calculate far region radiation field. Then radiation patterns of the LPDA antenna are simulated and the influence of geological parameters to the antenna爷s radiation charac- teristic is analyzed at last. The result shows that the change of geological conductivity has great influence to the patterns of LPDA antenna, while the influence of the variation of geological dielectric constant to the antenna's patterns is less. This pa- per is valuable to calculate radiation field induced by the sloping LPDA over lossy half-space.
