Calculation of Scattering for Target Microwave Short Pulse by Time-Domain Physical Optics Method

    • The problem of short pulse scattering from target is wide-band scattering characteristic, essentially. And, it is more straightforward to obtain short pulse scattering from the time domain. The time-domain physical optics (TDPO) method has the characteristics of fast speed and clear physical approximation, which can be used to calculate the time domain waveform of microwave short pulse scattering from the large size target directly. Theoretical formula of TDPO is introduced in this paper, and the target model is established based on triangular mesh. Radon transform is utilized to calculate the impulse response of the target. Therefore, microwave short pulse scattering of targets in time domain is obtained by convolution. The method is verified by the scenario of calculating the scattering echo of the two-conductor sphere. And the short pulse scattering waveform of large aircraft is calculated to show the ability to deal with electrically large problem. The short pulse scattering waveform from target can be used as the input of signal processing research.
