    Research on Miniaturized High Power Microwave Limiter

    • Nowadays, electronic equipment has been widely used, thus high power microwave (HPM) may lower the sensitivity of receiver or even destroy it under such complicated electromagnetic environment. To meet the demand of protection of HPM attack, a miniaturized HPM limiter based on PIN diodes is introduced. The HPM limiter is fabricated by using thin film hybrid integrated circuit technology, in a 34 mm×Φ9 mm metal package. The test results show that the insertion loss is less than 1 dB at 0.3-2 GHz and the VSWR is better than 1.5. Capable of handling up to 100 μs pulse width, 0.1% duty cycle, and 1000 W incident power levels, the limiter allows less than 17 dBm leakage power to pass through. There are no reports of similar limiters at home and abroad. With small size, wide operating band and extremely high power tolerance,the HPM limiter can greatly improve the reliability of receiver and has broad application prospect.
