    Research on Miniaturization of AGC Module

    • AGC module is widely used in satellite wireless communication system, by realizing IF signal amplification and automatic gain control. It features high gain and large dynamic range. System miniaturization becoming more urgent, it is necessary to carry out the miniaturization of the AGC module on the basis of maintaining the performance and reliability. In this paper, MMIC technique is used to rebuild the unit circuit on hybrid integrated technique. A voltage control attenuator and an amplifier MMIC chip is designed using E-pHEMT MMIC process, which reduces the volume of the unit circuits to 0. 9 mm×0. 9 mm and 0. 4 mm×0. 6 mm respectively, only 1/30 of the original circuits. Through unit circuit and the whole circuit jointly design and optimization, the circuit is simplified by reducing six components. On the basis of origin unit circuits substituted by MMIC, the miniaturization of the whole circuit is further improved, which volume is reduced by 18%. Through the above measures, the volume of the circuit is reduced to 18 mm×15 mm×3. 5 mm, which is only 1/3 of the original circuit, meanwhile, the performances of gain and telemetry voltage indicators are improved.
