Abstract
Owing to the increased demand of wideband wide scan capabilities and beamforming for phased array antenna, time delay has become a suitable candidate versus conventional phase shifter in phased antenna radar. In this paper, an X-band high power and high efficiency time delay module is designed. Utilizing adaptable amplitude/ phase compensation circuits, the improvement of amplitude modulation and phase error is achieved. On a basis of amplifying allocation and class C linear power amplifier pattern, higher efficiency and gain are guaranteed. In addition, electromagnetic coupling simulation and optimization of the hot transmission verify the stability. This research has reference value for the design and manufacture of the phased antenna radar transmitter or receiver module. Measured results show that transmitting output power is more than 5 W, module efficiency is higher than 46.3%, and delay phase/amplitude accuracy is within ±10°and ±1.3 dB, with 23.3±0.6 dB receiving gain.
